Laura is a Strategy Director at AREA 17 where she helps clients and teams to create beautiful, people-centered products. From ideation to implementation, her work focuses on defining business and design opportunities as well as the strategic approach to advance both.
Before joining AREA 17, Laura worked with various studios and organizations at the intersection of design, social impact, and communications. Previously, Laura worked as Associate Director of Research and Strategy with The Atlantic’s in-house creative agency and digital consultancy. While there she helped launch editorially-oriented campaigns and products for media brands, think tanks, and Fortune 500 companies. Laura’s approach to design is influenced by her studies at UCLA and Parsons where she applied ethnographic research processes to understand design's role in shaping culture and society.
Laura is originally from Oakland, California and will always be a west coaster at heart. In her free time, Laura is usually busy eavesdropping on subway conversations, contemplating going to yoga, or riding her bike very slowly and cautiously around the many different corners of Brooklyn. Occasionally, she volunteers at the Mmuseumm in lower Manhattan and hopes you come visit when she’s there. Bring snacks.
