As a UX Designer, Joy has a passion for solving complex design problems and creating seamless digital experiences. She believes digital products made correctly have the potential to improve the human experience. At AREA 17, she seeks to embody the culture of collaboration and approaches design with a craft emphasis.
Joy graduated with a Master’s Degree in Visual and Multimedia Art Direction from the esteemed E.C.V. (School of Visual Communications) in Bordeaux, France in 2011. After graduating, Joy freelanced for a few years as an Art Director and Consultant for prize-winning architect and urbanist Bernard Trey. In 2015, she moved to New York City to work as a Senior Designer and Art Director at The Seventh Art for four years, where she branded high-end residential agency projects (The Brooklyn Grove, The Centrale, Eleven On The River, Vandewater, and Vantage, among many others) and branding projects for architectural firms (Robert A.M. Stern, Cetra Ruddy)
In her spare time, Joy tries to read forty books a year in either French, English, or Spanish. She enjoys staying active (yoga, swimming, hiking, CrossFit, bouldering, running, to name a few), has her motorcycle license, used to play horseball (basketball on a horse!), and as an avid traveler, competes with her father to see who can visit the most countries.
